A Hollywood moment

To Hollywood last Friday, to see the re-released Life of Brian, and who should be at the screening at a small cinema on Sunset Boulevard but Eric Idle. A Hollywood moment.

It reminded me, though, of how few celebrity encounters I’ve had since I’ve been visiting and living in LA during the past six years. This is not a place for accidental meetings – unlike, say, London, where everyone uses the Underground, and the compression of the city centre naturally forces different circles to overlap. Transport in LA is by car-pod from where you are to where you want to go. There’s nothing much between A and B except traffic. Everything’s purposeful, volitional. By design. Serendipity is a film title.
